I work designing new biscuit manufacturing equipment and new lines for making tasty new biscuits and snacks.
I manage engineering projects for my company, which are mostly packaging and automations projects. As we make lots of different types of biscuits and snacks every project is different and there is a lot of variety within the job. I really enjoy learning about how changing our processes affects our products and its really interesting building projects for new lines and new product types.
My Typical Day
I spend my days managing current engineering projects for the site which I work at and also planning for future projects including line upgrades, identifying new equipment and working on improvements to our lines and processes.
I work within a project engineering department with other project managers so we support each other on the different area of project engineering. Some of the areas which I get involved in are;
Project planning and tracking of current projects
Finance control for monitoring project budgets
Identifying new project opportunities and building plans for future projects
Ensuring work is completed to the correct safety and food safety standards
Review meetings and site team meetings
What I'd do with the money
Use it for funding engineering projects in local schools in my area

What did you want to be after you left school?
Working in the R.A.F as an engineer with weapons/aircraft
Were you ever in trouble at school?
Yes, but always blamed my younger brother !
What's the best thing you've done as an engineer?
Re-developed a process to save the company £180,000 a year and won a trip to San Franciso after winning a company award !
If you weren't an engineer, what would you be?
A professional skateboarder !
